What we collect, and what we do not

The Blueprint of Water is a book you can read, not a service that watches you read it. The website collects the minimum it needs to sell the book and, later, to run memberships. The iOS app collects nothing at all. This page lists everything, and it is short because there is not much to list.

Reading the site

You do not need an account to read. The book, the chapters, the calculators, and the problem sets are public. Numbers you type into a calculator and answers you work in the Problem Room stay in your browser. The site runs no third party analytics and no advertising trackers. One preference, your choice of viewing mode, is kept in your browser’s local storage and never leaves your device.

Reserving or buying the book

If you reserve a first edition copy, we store the name, email address, number of copies, and any note you give us. We use that to contact you about your reservation and for nothing else.

When you buy the book, checkout happens on Stripe’s payment pages. Stripe collects your card details and shipping address under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy). We receive your order and shipping information so we can send the book, and we pass the shipping information (your name, address, and email) to Shippo, our shipping provider, to create the shipping label. Neither we nor Shippo ever see your card number.

Accounts and membership

Accounts are not open yet. When they open, signing in takes one emailed link and no password, so we store your email address and nothing else about your identity. The only cookies the site sets are the ones that keep you signed in. Membership payments will run through Stripe the same way book orders do, and the workspace will save the scenarios you choose to save, tied to your account so you can come back to them.

The iOS app

The Blueprint of Water app for iPhone collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking, and it makes no network requests at all. Every calculator runs on your device, and nothing you type ever leaves it. The App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”, and that is the whole story.

Hosting, logs, and email

The website is hosted on Vercel. Like any host, it keeps short-lived request logs (the address a request came from and the page it asked for) that we use only to keep the site running. Our own error reports carry an error code, never personal information. If you email us, we keep the email and use it to reply.

Seeing or deleting your data

Write to connor@blueprintofwater.com to ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted. That covers reservations, orders, and accounts alike. We do not sell your information, and we share it only with the services that run the site and fulfill orders: Stripe for payments, Shippo for shipping, and Vercel for hosting.

Changes
